Hi guys,

I recently completed 2 paintings for the Crazy4Cult show this year at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles which will be up until July 30th. I chose to illustrate The Shining and The Warriors. I went with more of a dark / rough design for The Warriors since the film is about street gangs and primarily takes place at night. For The Shining piece I went with more of a graphic approach and chose the elevators because of how powerful and memorable that scene is to me. So far The Shining has been sold.

I'm at the beginning stages of putting together a new body of work, I have my other work at a Gallery in Cape Cod, so now I'm brainstorming and getting ideas together for my direction and approach to painting. Over the past year I've learned a lot painting smaller because those paintings are more immediate and its loosened me up, however I've been wanting to work bigger and to get the same looseness which has always been a struggle. Miss you guys and can't believe were heading into the holiday season already! I think I'm going to bust out my Christmas jams soon! I tell you, if your working on your work and your cranky, nothing brightens your mood like some winter wonderland music. : )

I went to Disney first tiem of my life when I was 15, I didn't even know that I wanted to be an artist or that one day I ll be part of a team that designed all these beautiful buildings and sceneries that I admired. I always thought that these designs were created by some kind of supernatural artists and I never thought that I would be one of them. Here is a part of my experience.......

Concept renderings

These coupel of months I ve been working like crazy, redesigning my personal site, developing some new ideas and also working full time for Raleigh Design in Winter Park Fl. My boss Chris Raleigh is the grandson of the great American illustrator Henry Raleigh, and he is a very known interior designer in the themed Restaurant and Hospitality industry. These last year we had been woring on a new Restaurant for Downtown Disney in Orlando, Fl with E-brands restaurants, Paradiso 37. I am the in house artist and I am responsible for the conceptulization and execution of any art that goes into the restaurant design also responsible for rendering our concepts. Fpr this Restaurant I created 5 exterior murals to be painted liek ghost signs, a wall mural that wraps around the wine bar area 3 original illustrations that were framed and hanged on the walls and we hand painted post stamps from around South America on the interior walls. So here are some sneak peeks in the creation of a themed Restaurant. Also you can see on this site the pictures from the opening day, I am actually in a picture with Chris Raleigh handling the hanging of the artwork. (weird)

I just finished this piece for Peppermill Records, is a project were someone thought of a title, and then a writer took it and created a 10 minute story, that was then sent to another writer that continued it as he wanted, an so on until the 12 chapters are completed.

Hey all, some of my fellow artist and myself are starting sketch-o-rama back up again. Sketch-o-rama is a theme sketch blog where other awesome artist put up cool pieces based on themes we assign each other, mostly redesigns of cool characters we all love. The theme I came up with recently was to do a redesign of Cobra Commander. I'm talking about the way you envision the ruthless leader of Cobra, the most evil terrorist organization of all time!! This dude should be one badass looking bastard and personally I don't think giving him a serious breathing problem and a skin condition is quite enough for the leader of all this evil! This was quite a fulfilling & meaningful project. I created this illustration and sleeve design, along with several movie poster for the Greatest Generation Foundation. They are the same organization that is in the special features of quite a few war movies; like Saving Private Ryan. Their mission is to unite the WWII veterans at battle scenes like D-day. At the scenes the veterans meet and discusses the circumstantial events with the current “Axis Powers” survivors. It was really cool working with this foundation, because the remaining WWII survivors are very few, and are dying at several every few months. One of the Veterans on the back, died during the movies production. Most of the survivors were between the age of 18-22, when they carved history, and sacrificed thier lives. One of the veteran’s sayings that went on the front cover was, “Our stories will be told, but we would like to tell them now, while we are still living. This is an ink on paper contour drawing of an artist by the name of Bhagavan Das. He sings ancient mantras to a modern and sometimes english mix. The most simple of mantras is "OM", "AUM" or "AMEN", which we have all heard of and is incorporated into many religions. OM is believed to be the cosmic vibration that holds together the atoms of the world and heavens. Supposedly it is the vibration at which we all resonate. I find that theory to be fascinating and it works as a tool to help me visualize, draw or paint what is non physical, you know the whole space between thing. My intentions concerning my recent work have been attempts at letting go completely, not pushing the pen but being pulled by it. Sounds silly but this is how most of my recent work has manifested. One great attribute of this process is that it lacks expectation which in return relieves disappointment. I suppose applying and maintaining this action in the commercial field would be the real test. I believe many of the Blogarians have already accomplished this.

PS: I am very impressed with the over all growth and determination and family like community that I still see here at Blogarians. The web site looks fantastic and all the work that everyone has been posting is truly incredible. Great to be back.

Dingeltrot Cover

This is a cover for the first book in a series called Dingeltrot. The book is about the adventures of a character from a human community who hide/ live in a barn due to their small stature.They are identical to a humans in every way, except for being incredibly tiny.

This is the first full painting I have done on my new Wacom Cintiq 21ux. I don't know if you guys have tried one of these monitors. but it is well worth the hefty investment. Having the hand-eye coordination of the pen directly on the large monitor feel so natural unlike the tablets, also it speeds production by about 100%

These are just some random sketches I've done over the past couple days in Sketchbook Pro. A great sketching program! It takes some getting used to as far as navigation and shortcuts, but there's no lag like in photoshop and painter; it sticks to the basics to increase productivity speed.

also...if anybody is interested, we're looking to hire an artist to do girly/cute illustration/product design. If you're interested, let me know and I'll fill you in on the details.

Slug is the MC of the Hip Hop Duo Atmosphere. I ve been listening to his music and lyrics for the last 3 years. He usually raps in an intensely personal, often introspective style, acting as a kind of storyteller relating his own experiences to his audience. Slug's songs often deal with alcohol problems, tour life and depression, and his difficult and destructive relationships with women. So here is SLug tell me what you think.........

A book cover for a Canadian Author's 3rd book on Hockey. In brief, the book is a retrospective setting about a pro-hockey players youth. The setting takes place in the 1980's, thus the "old style" gear, featuring full face-mask etc.

Churchill's War Room (DK Publishing)

This is an illustration I just did for Dk Publishing UK, Its Churchill's War Room during WWII ( I am sure Ted and Chris will like that).
I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this assignment, it was WWII, Black and white (something I don't do often), but I ended up enjoying doing all the research for clothing, hairstyles, phones...

This is a concept and graphic for a cycle supply company. I am developing an ad campaign for them based off of this initial concept and graphic. I find it so enjoyable to create simple concepts and accompany them with basic graphic interpretation.

I went through many versions and I started over more times than I'd like to recall.I wanted to do a piece that showed children,"Just As They Should Be".Often times they are robbed of these simplistic moments for a harsher reality due to circumstances and people in their environment.

So this is my second little short starting the stupid kid. In this short stupid kid does his taxes and ends up feeling a little "light". Along with this short I am also including the original storyboard from my sketchbook and some development art as well as pencils sketches for the key poses. This is for another contest Channel Frederator is having so wish me luck !!.
